Recycling Fund Study Mission – Thailand (6th – 9th , May, 2018)

The General Office of the State Council recently announced an action plan to reform the Mainland’s solid waste import policy, which includes barring the import of solid wastes including waste plastics, unsorted scrap paper, discarded textile materials, etc. The HKSAR Government is concerned about the impacts of the new policy on the recycling industry in Hong Kong, especially plastics and paper recyclers.

In order to help the industry develop markets and diversified outlets for local recycleabels, the Recycling Fund Secretariat has organized a study mission to explore the recyclables export market to Thailand in May 2018. The tour has visited local government departments, paper and plastics recycling and manufacturing plants, recycling and treatment operation, so as to promote communications between industry players from Hong Kong and Thailand.
